So I know this is an old article, but out of high school I had no clue what I wanted to do. I have always had a thing for computers, against my parent's wishes I spent my summer savings when I was 15 to build my first one, by today's standards it was crap but I loved that P3 1Ghz, and god awful Windows ME, and I'm proud of it. Not knowing what I was going to do and knowing I wasn't ready to make a college decision about a major, I joined the Marine Corps. I spent 9 years as a communications systems repairman, learning ins and outs of digital systems, and found I really enjoyed networking.
Long story short, I got out of the Marine Corps, and now I'm doing what I really do love, networking. I'm going to college full time studying it, and while in high school I was a mediocre 2.37 student, because I am doing something I love, I am consistently on the dean's list, and the future looks bright.

That is a bit funny since this album came out in the late 90's. I'm not hugely invested in the history of the band though, so I don't know the story behind the masks. i always thought of them as adding to the gimmick of the band - such as Kiss, Devo, Insane Clown Posse - etc. Something that helps a band stand out from similar sounding bands around them.

It's modern (ok 90's modern) metal - which worked easily amongst my haunted house working friends. Just fast angry music that can get you pumped up. I'm not a huge metal music guy- but I do love Slipknot's first album.

I would say Microsoft Skype is still better that Google Voice b/c it provides superior voice quality. But recently, I have discovered another very good alternative: RHUB`s web conferencing servers and it beats both Skype and GV.

Yea, thanks. Looks like my issue happened because I have used brand new account to merge in. But, when I tried this on old account - all looks fine.

The unix time I had was 180 seconds apart AND I had multiple songs with the same time stamp. All the songs have to have been played within 14 days (hence why I had to use the same timestamp multiple times).

Hi, friends. I have rewrite this python script, so it generates correct .scrobbler.log file. But.. when I trying to import it to my account, instead full list i see part of it. (e.g. from 900 scrobbled tracks 290 has imported). I think it depends of Unix Timestamps. I have used transparent algorithm. Now timestamp (1391507344558) - track length (18000) -> result Timestmp (1391507326558).

Who can describe me, why it happens? When this script will work as it should, i'll share it.

This did not work. QTScrobbler sent 3000 songs but only about 50 ended up in the last.fm account. Ran it multiple times, but the same thing kept occurring.

after -user it should be your username. That might be it. Also make sure you have python installed. The real problem is that I wrote up the blog article the night I got it to work, and I haven't ever done it again.

Btw, im trying out that "Merge two lastfm accounts" thingy i found here, but i cant get it to work. Im stuck at generating the scrobble log from python. Whenever i type in "./lastexport.py –user USERNAME", i get a syntax error and i have no idea of what to do since im not really good at things like this. I was wondering maybe if you could help me out just a little bit and tell me exactly how to generate the log with python correctly, and where to save the script and so on.

FANTASTIC video! I remember some of these rides very well. Quite a few I was too scared and/or prone to motion sickness to actually ride (any of the coasters, the big spinning lady, the centrifuge thing), but I remember the Fun House and some of the other rides fondly. Of course, looking at how many rides have closed over the years makes me wonder just what the heck they still have at Cedar Point. Off to look up their web presence and figure that out...

When I mentioned prefer CSS (and this post is 5 years old) - I have dealt with many sites back then and since - that did not use CSS - pure .html files only. Up until the last few months the company I work for used straight HTML instead of a CMS.

I understand and I'm comfortable with the basics - I just don't believe the majority of people these days will ever need to even know those. I remember back in the late 90's that they stated everyone will know html - those days have unfortunately passed and that belief never made it to fruition thanks to CMS systems.

Not to disagree, but I think HTML is generally fairly easy. There are a limited number of tags you really need to know to get started, and you can learn those in a few hours. HTML is not a programming language, it is a formatting language. It's like writing a Word document, but more precise.

To me, the statement that you "prefer CSS to HTML" is very strange. It's not a choice, they only work together. HTML determines what elements on a page are (are they headings? paragraphs? tables?), and in what order they are organized. CSS determines how those elements look, what color they are, etc. A CSS file contains only style information, no content that a user could read.

It's true that complicated things can be done with HTML and CSS, but I think that the basics are easy, and I frankly think that anyone who is doing content management for a living should have at least an understanding of HTML for text formatting purposes: headings, strong, em, anchors, paragraphs, lists, tables, etc.

I found this post because I get frustrated when I come across horribly mangled HTML done using a WYSIWYG editor. WYSIWYG editors and Microsoft Word teach bad habits and (usually) generate messy HTML. HTML itself can (should) be very clean and simple -- if it is, it's easy to read and understand.

I do agree that some people won't be bothered to learn, but I also think that markdown or something like that might be a better solution than WYSIWYG editors. WYSIWYG editors make it seems like "anything is possible, you just make it look the way you want" but in fact, a lot of times this causes problems. A person using a visual editor can only guess at how the computer is formatting their content based on what they see. They can't understand why their text keeps turning blue (for example) and they can't solve the problem because the HTML is invisible to them. In fact, this might be caused by something like a blank anchor tag "" which the visual editor failed to completely remove when they took out a link. Markdown is more readable than HTML, but much more precise and less deceiving than a visual editor.

I guess i get on a bit of a tear about this kind of thing, but I'm passionate about making it simpler for people to write content correctly for the internet, because as a web developer I spend a lot of time cleaning up messes that could have been avoided simply by not using a visual editor and having a small amount of knowledge of HTML. Maybe Markdown is the answer.

Edit: even for CMSes -- Wordpress, etc. entering text content in HTML is more effective than using the visual editor, I think.
